'Lucy'

Lucy had been an only dog in a loving home. her owners took in another OES dog that had been mistreated. Unfortunately the dog required too much attention and one had to go. The owners thought Lucy would be the best to rehome as they believed the dog would not have survived.

With the best of intentions they found a new home for Lucy on their own. The new owner portrayed the image of a dog lover and very knowledgeable in the breed, having owned OES previously. Shortly after moving Lucy the owners began to worry about their actions and attempts to visit her were blocked. Eventually they turned to our Rescue.

Fortunately no sale had yet taken place as the agreement between both parties had allowed for a settling in period. The owner and a Rescue worker turned up unannounced at the new home. The new owner was caught off guard and had no option but to allow access. Poor Lucy was in a state.

The picture above was after she had been cleaned up a bit. She was cold, very dirty, partially trimmed and the matted coat around her legs was water soaked. In the few weeks she had been rehomed she had lost half of her body weight.

We managed to 'rescue' Lucy from this environment just in time. The new owner had also attempted to forge signatures on her Kennel Club registration and other documentation. Goodness knows what her plight may have been . Thankfully she is now in a loving home where she is gives and receives plenty of love and affection. In addition she has given a new lease of life to her carer's older dog.
