OLD ENGLISH SHEEPDOG CLUB OF SCOTLAND
CHAMPIONSHIP SHOW MARCH 26TH, 2000
I would like to thank the committee, members and exhibitors for selecting me to judge bitches at the above named
show. The classes were strong in quality and quantity except special yearling - but in other classes, especially
Post Graduate and Limit, I didn't have enough cards to go round...thus some very good bitches found themselves
cardless. Absenteeism was also quite low.
Minor Puppy Bitch (7)
1. Brown's Hillndale Bewitched.
Lovely square bitch, good shape and outline. Good head, dark eyes, pigment. Good mover that presented and showed
well.
2. Oakes' Ambleoak Starfleets Finest.
Another fine young bitch of slower to mature type. Coat changing nicely. Nice eye shape and colour, good pigment.
Moved well.
3. Topp's Hillndale Popatop.
Puppy Bitch (6)
1. BPIS Mogford's Mellowdee Magic Spell.
A well constructed sound youngster with good head, super dark eyes and pigment. Good shoulders, stifles and hock
with nice topline. Good old fashioned coat of excellent texture, colour and break. Moved and handled well.
2. Simmonds' Brinkley Bewitched .
Exceptionally feminine little bitch. A real eye-catcher of excellent proportions. Groomed and handled perfectly.
Sound throughout and pushed winner very, very close.
3. Wilkinson's Mellowdee Must be Magic at Kalaju.
Junior Bitch (9)
1. Mathews' Gojolega Proud Alice.
Soundly Constructed, well-balanced youngster in excellent junior coat of good texture. Moved with ease. Handled
and presented well - an eye-catcher in every way.
2. Ford's Brinkley Dancing Queen of Cuenmaen.
A very cobby type bitch with darker than preferred coat colour. However, she was very well-presented and handled.
Moved soundly. Excellent head and dark, well-pigmented eyes.
3. Anderson & Turner's Shenedene Super Girl at Jeabor.
Special Yearling Bitch (1)
Absent
Novice Bitch (4)
1. Anderson & Turner's Shenedene Super Girl at Jeabor.
Well-balanced bitch in good quality junior coat. Sound throughout but needs to tighten up some.
2. Steele's Arthrug Up On A Stair.
Not in as good a coat as winner although nice colour. Presented well.
3. Hulbert's Brinkley Pure Pleasure.
Graduate Bitch (4)
1. Goodwin & Walker's Wynmark Kelly's Eye.
An outstanding bitch. Compact and square, a bitch of great symmetry. Good head, neck, shoulders, front and rear
quarters. Deep brisket, ribcage. Nice rise and strong coupling. Lovely coat texture and colour. Nice dark eyes
and excellent pigmentation. Faultless in presentation and movement. C.C. and R.B.I.S.
2. Mayall's Maycup Aurora.
A lovely name for such a nice bitch. Unlucky to meet winner in such fine form. Nice throughout but a little nervous
on the day - perhaps a season near.
3. Forbes' Allmark Just Good Friends.
Post Graduate Bitch (12)
Like the Limit, not an easy class to judge with many a fine exhibit going cardless.
1. RCC Wilkinson's Wynmark Satin Shoes at Pockethall.
Didn't know until after the show that she is litter sister to First in the previous class and C.C Winner. Like
"Two peas in a pod" this outstanding bitch has all the attributes of her sister. However, these bitches
as a whole were greater than the sum of their parts. When awarding the C.C and R.C.C, I was praying for the wisdom
of Solomon to separate them. In the end it came down to two small points of difference; one having a slight edge
on coat and the other on daylight. No doubt that on other days and under different judges, they will change places
often. When quality such as this appears, the breed has a very bright future.
2. Goddard's Oakfarm Opalescent.
Another outstanding bitch with quality in abundance. She could have solved the previous dilemma but her 'fast feet'
prevented me from placing her any higher. Beautifully constructed and balanced in superb coat. Her overall symmetry
and movement were exceptional as she covered the ground with a super driving action.
3. Ware's Wookeymill Rollercoaster at Waltonmanor.
Limit Bitch (11)
1. Hartley's Dalewood Standing Ovation at Allhart.
Super, feminine bitch. Four square with good head, dark eyes and pigment. Also good neck and shoulders. Excellent
front and rear quarters and strong coupling. Coat of good colour and texture. Went well.
2. Morris-Turner's Kalaju Hilda of Morwick.
A cobby bitch of good confirmation. Nice dark eyes and strong pigmentation. Good head, neck and shoulders. Good
rise - strong quarters fore and aft. Moved and presented very well. Lovely coat in both texture and colour.
3. Corrigan's Sanros' Belisimaninyamea.
Open Bitch (9)
1. Gould's Ch. Babiton Bucks Fizz.
Not surprised she's a Champion as she is so well-constructed in all areas. Good head, neck and shoulders. Excellent
front and rear quarters; well-coupled and compact overall. Moved and showed really well.
2. Grover's Eynhallow Spring Rain.
A nicely constructed bitch of good breed type. Nice outline with good angulation in both front and rear quarters.
Nice rise, strong loin with good ribcage and brisket. Showed and moved well. Pushed winner hard and lost out on
one small point only.
3. Reynold's Cillastyle Curtain Call.
Veteran Bitch (3)
1. Frame's Barnolby Penny Blessing of Megabob.
A lovely 8 year old in great shape. Good quality jacket. Nice dark eyes and pigment. Sound as a bell. So steady
on the move and enjoyed her moment in the ring.
2. Gould's Babiton Blue Lagoon.
A bit bigger than the winner and didn't move as well. However, she's in excellent shape with good coat texture
and colour. A long day for the old bones to be hanging around.
