OLD ENGLISH SHEEPDOG CLUB OF SCOTLAND

CHAMPIONSHIP SHOW 23rd MARCH 2003

I would like to thank the committee for the invitation to Judge and the exhibitors for their entries. The quality was quite varied overall but I was very impressed with my principal winners. My co-judge and I agreed on all our joint decisions. Dog CC and Best in Show was Zottles Zero Tolerance at Malcro. Best Puppy in Show Pockethall Buckle My Shoe.

MPD AND BEST PUPPY
1. WILKINSON'S POCKETHALL BUCKLE MY SHOE, I really loved this youngster. Excellent neck and the best foreface in the class, short cobby body, super rear angulation, very good front, coat forward for age and already showing a good break. Very steady on the move, never put a foot wrong. If he continues in this vein he will be a great asset to the breed.
2. HARVEY'S EYNHALLOW CLOUD DANCE. A promising youngster. Not quite so advanced as the winner, although they share the same birthday. Good in head, neck and topline. Coat changing, well made and moved soundly.
3. RILEY'S FYNHALLOW HIGH HORIZON.

PD:
1. BELL'S ALJOH NORTHERN VENTURE AT SOULBOBS. Very well coated for his age. Not a big dog but has a deep, well ribbed body and good bone for his size. Nice outline and attractive head markings. Needs to firm up on the move.
2. WHITAKER'S ALJOH NORTHERN MARAUDER. Litter brother to Again a medium sized dog. Well proportioned and carrying a lovely light jacket. Moved better than the winner but sadly I could find only one testicle, otherwise could have changed places.
3. BROWN'S HILLNDALE WISNAF ME.

JD:
1. PHILP'S GILLIJEN THE PROFESSIONAL. Stood alone. More substance and size than those in the puppy class. Nice to handle, good head with excellent stop, straight front, arched neck, strong body. Could have moved better.

SYD:
1. CASSELLS' SILENCE OF THE NIGHT. This is not a big boy but he is well balanced and put together. Good front and rear angles and a pleasing body. Short coupled and topped with a clear, pigeon blue coat. Moved extremely well when settled at a speed that suited his stride and he was no longer leaning across his handler at the front. All credit to his handler for effort. The cleanliness of his presentation could put to shame some of our longer serving exhibitors.
2. MORRIS-TURNER'S GILLIJEN MASTERPIECE AT CI-JEBBA I also liked this boy. A larger type, substantially made with ample bone, good neck and front. Broad skull and muzzle, rising topline, wide rear with good bend to stifle. Coat just needs a little time but has the potential.
3. OAKES' AMBLEOAK STAR CHASER.

ND:
ALJOH NORTHERN VENTURE AT SOULBOBS.

GD:
SILENCE OF THE NIGHT.

PGD:
1. ADRIAN-GROVES' BOVARON JACK-IN-THE-BOX AT BARCOLE J.W. Masculine in head, very good stop and strength of foreface. Super bone and well ribbed compact body. Good neck, front and topline. Excellent width at the rear and good turn of stifle. Moved purposefully. Dense coat of quality. As always beautifully prepared. Has all the requirements I look for.
2. SILENCE OF THE NIGHT
3. LEE'S MEGABOB GAOLACH LEGACY.

LD:
1. ADCOCKS KRISENDAW TROUBLE GALORE. I have always admired him from the ringside. Stood foursquare, strong head properties, correct front assembly, lovely pear shape. Parallel, low set hocks. Profuse, clear, light blue jacket that was immaculately presented. His movement gave him an easy win in this class. In the challenge he could not quite match the maturity of the 'big boys'.
2. AYRTON-FORTE'S SHENEDENE ADDICTION. A good size with super head, eye and fabulousexpression. Lots of bone and body. Good front and neck. Ably presented. Today he was sloppy on the move and paid the penalty.
3. BIGGARS BRINKLEY TEDDY BOY.

OD:
1. CROFTS ZERO TOLERANCE AT MALCRO. CC & BIS, Quality all through and doesn't need anything to hide behind. Superb square skull and strong jaw. Correct layback of shoulder. Long, arched neck and proud head carriage. Absolutely Al bone, deepest of briskets, most substantial in body. Massive rear quarters with ample width of pelvis. Very strong hocks, firm loin and good topline. Powerful on the move with great ease and freedom. of stride. Has lots of ring presence. A dog of this calibre will always be in contention.
2. ALLAN'S INT & UK CH. ALLMARK RALPH LAUREN. Res CC. I have given this boy a Res CC in the past and I confess I had forgotten just how good he is to handle. Masculine head, dark eve, lovely expression. Well constructed, close coupled body. Good angulation. Plenty of bone and spring of rib. Enthusiastic on the move with very good extension in profile. Has the maturity, finish and showmanship that I look for at this level.
3. OAKES OLDOAK WILD CARD.

VD:
1. BROWN'S HILLNDALE HIGH HOPES. Good coat presented in a super clean condition. Carrying just the right weight. Pleasing head and neck. Short body with good rise. Still moving out very well and obviously enjoys showing. A credit to his owner.
